Autumn hues … at Chatsworth!

When the start of your weekend has been a total weather washout, there is nothing better than waking up to sunshine on a Sunday morning! An autumnal walk is just what’s needed.

Whatever the season there is one place that never disappoints …. Chatsworth! Living close by, we have enjoyed picnics in the gardens during the warm summer months as well as exploring the pinetum and flower gardens during the colder months. Every time we go, there is always a feeling that there is something new to be discovered.

At this time of the year the leaves on the trees throughout the Chatsworth Estate are turning into rich reds and oranges and seeing the dappled sunlight streaming through them is an absolute delight. After yesterday’s rain, the air was crystal clear and the views were perfect!

The flower gardens, still rich in colour, are a feast for the eyes. Brightly coloured dahlias and vibrant verbena fill the flower beds whilst rich green chard and orange pumpkins adorn the vegetable patches.

What better backdrop is there for any flower than that of Chatsworth house! The rich golden Echinacea flowers look stunning against the green rolling hills of Derbyshire, as do the blooming Japanese Anemones.

For anyone that loves gardening, walks around the Chatsworth Estate are inspirational. You come away with so many ideas of how to maintain colour in your garden throughout the year …. its also makes you appreciate how hard the team of gardeners here must work to put on such a display, whatever the season!
