Sequins and sunshine …

Sequins and sunshine …  a combination I adore! Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer for a taste of warm sun. There’s nothing better during the summer months than an element of sparkle against a golden tan! Whether it’s a sequin tote, an embellished tee or simply a pair of statement sequin earrings, sequins will totally transform an outfit.

If you follow my blog or Instagram you’ll already know that I’m rather fond of sequins! It is the easiest way to add some interest to an outfit. I definitely don’t save them for Christmas …. every day deserves a touch of sparkle!

Dressing sequins down is the key to making them work during the day – this approach to styling will give them longevity  – which is what we all want from the items in our wardrobe.

Denim is the obvious choice when it comes to styling. Not only will denim emphasise the shimmer and shine of the sequins, it will also allow you to wear it confidently without feeling overdressed. Laundered, faded and distressed denim is the ultimate in giving your sequins the full attention they deserve – worn with this season’s latest sequin embellished tops and tees the look will ooze laid back effortless style.

Take your favourite jeans and white cotton tee and wear with a sequin jacket to really make a statement…

When it comes to the summer we all want to be wearing skirts, and there’s no reason not to combine a love of skirts and sparkle in one! Styled in the right way they can be easily worn during the day … all you need is a a simple cotton tee or Breton, Converse Allstars or your favourite sneakers and you have the perfect outfit!

Sometimes all you need is a pair of statement earrings to take your outfit to the next level. A little more subtle but equally effective … and more affordable than investing in expensive items that you might not always get your wear from.

Accessories are a great way to introduce an element of sparkle into your day to day wardrobe …. and a sequin tote or clutch will be versatile addition to anyone’s wardrobe.
