Statement earrings and cosy knits … get ready for autumn!

If you thought that statement earrings were a ‘summer thing’ you’d be wrong! You’ve only got to look at the pictures below to know that statement earrings and cosy knits are perfect together, and are a key look this autumn.

It couldn’t be simpler to mimic the look and put an outfit together for the autumn and winter months that oozes style and sophistication, but retains a laid back approach.

It’s for that reason that my cosy knits and statement earrings are already becoming my go to pieces for the Autumn.

Once the cold weather really takes hold the only thing that’s going to change is the chunkyness of the knit and the height of the rollneck (and maybe the addition of a discreet thermal vest hidden underneath!) .

Choose statement earrings that are timeless and elegant, so they won’t date. The high-street has a wide choice of earrings but you need to seek out a pair (or two) that have that ‘something special’ about them.

My current favourites are by the jewellery designer Michelle Misra (Olly). She started her jewellery company Olly M Jewellery back in 2003 after a holiday in India where she developed a love affair with beads and semi precious stones. Each piece of jewellery is designed by Olly hersef. She travels to India at least once a year to source each component for the jewellery and to gather inspiration.

There is a subtle charm to the Olly M Jewellery range which I love, each piece creating a statement but with extreme elegance. They work as well in the day as they do for a dressed-up evening out. Against the silver plated and gold plated settings the coloured stones stand out beautifully, ranging from greys and aquas through to vibrant hot pinks and emerald greens.

I’ve selected my favourites from the current range, all of which would compliment any outfit and would look great paired with a cosy knit, denim jeans or maxi skirt for that effortlessly stylish autumn look.

Triple drop earrings Dovegrey, Agate & Hotpink £105
Sunflower earrings Aqua £75
Ellie tassel earrings Moonstone £85
Sunburst earrings Denim  £69
Triple drop earrings Emerald £105
Bubble drop dove grey earrings £75
Coral silver earrings £55
Seraphina triple drop smoke earrings £75

Now that the perfect pair of statement earrings are sorted the next thing is to update your cosy knits! You need to compliment your earrings and vice versa…

There is a great choice of knitwear around at the moment and it can be hard to narrow it down. However, H&M have impressed me so far this Autumn with their range of knitwear in a great selection of colours and styles. They also offer a great range of ‘Premium quality’ knits in natural fibres (mohair, cashmere and wool blends) which offer much more in softness and quality at affordable prices.

I find that when it comes to looking for easy to wear knitwear I prefer to focus on the colour or the texture rather than pattern and embellishment. This way the pieces you buy are easier to match with your existing wardrobe and will also show off your statement accesories beautifully!

I’ve chosen what I consider to be the best pieces @HM in terms of colour, versatility and style – hope you agree!

  1. Hi Sara,

Those earrings couldn’t be more gorgeous!! What a beautiful collection! As for cosy knits, I couldn’t agree more with you on H&M at the moment! I always look for those that have some natural wool in them and for the last few winters, my H&M jumpers have been my absolute favourites all season! Bring on the cosy knits!!
