If you’re going to buy a bag … make sure it’s a red one!

I love colour but if I’m honest my wardrobe is predominantly grey, black and white with a few colourful pieces thrown in and an excessive amount of navy and white stripes! I love nothing more that adding a splash of colour to an outfit and I often prefer to keep my outfit quite simple and let the accessories, shoes or bags do the talking.

Making a statement with a bold colour accessory can instantly transform an outfit and in the lead up to Christmas there couldn’t be a better choice of colour than red.

With such a great selection of red bags around at the moment there hasn’t been a better time to update your wardrobe in one simple step … now is the time to ditch your black bag in favour of something more colourful. You’ll soon realise how easy it is to transform an outfit into something quite striking simply by changing the colour of your bag.

Willow bag @auroralondon £64.50

I’ve put together a selection of a few of my favourite finds and hopefully there’s something to suit everyone’s taste and budget. I’ve also added a few high end designer pieces … as we all like to dream!

Take a look and hopefully you feel inspired to swap your black handbag in favour of something more colourful …. and if you’re anything like me you’ll soon find you have more than just one red bag in your wardrobe and then you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Red leather saddle bag @cambridgesatchelco £120
Red suede tassel clutch @monsoon £22
Soho leather disco bag @gucci £715
Leather stitch detail cross body bag @topshop £42
Metallic detail bag @zara £29.99
Bow detail leather bag @mango £35.99
Willow bag @auroralondon £64.50 (monogramming available)
Contrasting hobo bag £39.99 @mango
Red flocked metal clutch with crystal flowers @jimmychoo £2495
Bournie red grosgrain clutch @dunelondon £55
Red Alba medium leather pouch @jigsaw £39
Engraved message bag @mango £19.99

I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to being rather excited about the following bag – for all of you that would love a Gucci disco bag but can’t quite justify the price (me included),  I think I’ve found the perfect alternative. It’s not available until next week when it launches online but Aurora London have done a fantastic job of getting us all excited with the photos on their Instagram page and the fab photos from the ‘Spirit of Christmas’ fair in London. I’m already an owner of their Willow bag and the new Gigi bag in soft grained leather with a coordinating tassel is going straight to the top of my ‘want it, need it’ list …in red, of course!

And if the bags above haven’t done enough to convince you that a red bag in your wardrobe is a necessity then the following pictures definitely will (all taken from Pinterest)

Happy shopping!
